"Westside Family Health Center recognizes the family...They even remember my kids’ names and ask about them during each of my visits.''

Young Grannies

Every baby should have a blankie. That’s the motto of Young Grannies, a group of Westside Family Health Center volunteers who donate handmade baby blankets to our infant and toddler patients.

Becoming a Young Granny is easy. All you need is a love for knitting, crocheting or quilting. The blankets can be made at your own speed.

Please use the following guidelines when making a baby blanket:

  • Use easily washable yarns such as acrylic or acrylic blends.
  • Blankies should measure no larger than 40 inches by 40 inches and no smaller than 35 inches by 35 inches.
  • Feel free to go wild with the colors: traditional pastels are appreciated as much as bright colors.
  • Make sure blankets are safe in that there are no buttons, snaps or other items that baby can swallow.

You can drop off your blanket at WFHC or mail it to us at:
